The Jesse Younan Tribute Show comes to The Newsagency for the first time. Now into its' 11th year, the Tribute show is a special evening celebrating the musical legacy of the acclaimed singer/songwriter, the late Jesse Younan.
Jesse Younan passed away on 22 July 2008 after a short battle with leukaemia after just finishing his fourth studio album ‘A Good Day for a Migraine’.
The album received outstanding critical acclaim and an ever increasing number of fans who have been deeply moved by Jesse’s unique, beautiful singing, virtuoso guitar-skills and masterful song writing.
The night promises to be a moving and powerful celebration of a exceptionally talented musician who used the magic of words and music to cope with life’s struggles.

This years fantastic line-up of artists are:
Kim Sheehy - Star of The Voice 2016 and again in 2019, Kim is a dynamic and powerful vocal performer and multi-instrumentalist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Popular Music from the Queensland Conservatorium in 2009 and then dedicated herself to recording her debut EP titled ‘Neighbours and Highways’. Kim’s commitment and talent saw her not only write and independently fund the EP, she also played a major role in the recording and production. process.
Frank Sultana - With influences ranging from Son House and Skip James, through to Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, as well as more contemporary artists like Tom Waits and Nick Cave, Frank Sultana dwells comfortably in this vintage stylistic world, where the song is still king, and nothing beats a great story.
Little Green - Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Sydney, Little Green’s style has been described as jazz, folk, blues, pop, indie, hippy, earthy, angelic and more, and her message as an artist is to share a childlike appreciation of the world around us.
Tom Hespe - Sydneysider Tom Hespe has been traipsing his boots through the murky swamps of inner city rock n roll and along the dusty trails of country music for well over twenty years. He is a multi-instrumentalist (vocals, saxophone, guitar, bass,), singer songwriter and promoter. Tom Has played with many bands on many stages and clocked up a lot of miles and stories-sublime and ridiculous-along the way.
Alison Avron - Founder of The Newsagency, we are happy to announce Alison Avron will be joining us on stage for this years Tribute show. A seasoned and talented singer/songwriter, Alison will bring her pop/indie vibe to the show for the first time. We are thrilled to have Ali on the bill and thank her for her endless and fierce support to live and independent music.
Chris Neto - Chris Neto is a Sydney songwriter, singer and instrumentalist. Taking inspiration from his wide variety of influence, Chris creates understated orchestral compositions, combining minimal processing with maximum meaning to take the listener an aural experience to waking dreamland.
Emad Younan - Following his appearance on The Voice 2016, Emad Younan emerged from the studio with his debut EP 'Because Everything Changes'. Working with multi-talented producer Sean Carey (ex-Thirsty Merc), the EP is a collection of emotive and melodic folk/pop songs chronicling his life experiences over the past decade. Taking influence his brother, the late Jesse Younan, Emad has been responsible for hosting the annual Jesse Younan Tribute shows as a continuing tribute to his brother.
Carla Versitano - The very talented Carla Versitano brings over 14 years of stage and studio experience mixing soul, blues, jazz and RnB to create an enchanting stage presence. Being a close personal friend of Jesse's, we are very honoured to have Carla join us for this years show
James and Jane Gurney - Tribute favourites, James and Jane Gurney return after a few absent years to bring their stunning harmonies and soulful rhythms to an eager audience. Both together and separately, James and Jane have a wealth of experience performing in various bands across Sydney over the years. Welcome back.
Joe Kelly - ACT based pianist and singer/songwriter Joe Kelly returns to the Tribute to bring us another intimate and powerful performance. A self-taught pianists, Joe skips through genres effortlessly from classical to jazz to blues to rock. And with a voice that transcends definition, Joe is a masterful performer and a crowd favourite at the Tribute shows
Sarah Bernardo - Sarah Bernardo is a Canadian made musician currently living and playing in Sydney Australia. At a young age Sarah was drawn to music from growing up in a musical family. Being exposed to music so young she was influenced by artists such as Evanescence, My Chemical Romance, Panic At The Disco and Paramore along with many more influential artists and bands. Sarah began writing her own songs at the young age of 14. Joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have perform at the Tribute.
Adam Pendergast - Former lead-singer of Dropmotive, dynamic and powerful vocalist Adam Pendergast returns to bring us his unique interpretation of Jesse's music. A crowd favourite, Adam is a highly talented and emotive singer who is able to deliver Jesse's lyrics with honesty and integrity.
